Shamrock Brooch

I was trying to find a fun and “professional” way to celebrate St. Patty’s Day this year. It was only this morning that I realized that St. Patty's day lands right smack in the middle of the week.

For this project you will need:

  • A sheet of green felt (or a 4x4 scrap square for one shamrock brooch) - .29 cents

  • Shimmer fabric to match

  • Hot glue gun and sticks

  • brooch pins - I got a pack of 12 for $.97 cents.

The toughest part was coming up with the shamrock shape. Once I had the shape down, I used the pattern to cut the felt out. I overlapped the felt with a glittery sheer green fabric. Once finished, the green shimmer fabric gives the brooch a more 3-D effect. To tie the two fabrics together, I stiched the stem shape within the shamrock out of green stitching thread. Super Easy!

Once the stitching was complete, I cut the sheer fabric to match the felt. I would recomend using small scissors here.

I bought a pack of 12 brooch pins at the frabric store for $0.97 cents. Once the shamrock itself is complete, you just have to hot glue it to the brooch pin. I used some matching felt to cover up the stitching in the back.

Ta-da!

That's such a great idea. My kids would love to have a brooch. I'll have to pick up some brooch pins. Thanks for linking to Creative Cats!
