She is Officially Toothless

First I want to say...this was all Brandon's doing! He told Issy that her loose tooth was ready to come out, then some how he convinced her to pull it out herself. Jeez.

Yep, Issy wiggled the small tooth a little. And then a little more. Pop. The second she saw blood she freaked out. In the mist of the emotional and exciting moment, Brandon was able to capture this cute picture below so that he could email it to me at work.

Recycled Onesie

Another little project I started last night. I had some extra fabric lying around so I decided to try to recycle one of Jackson's long sleeved onesies. I cut the basic shape of my bird (no patter, just regular white paper). I started out by stitching in the eye. This helps to keep the bird from moving around. Once the eye was finished, I started stitching my way around the body. I went around 3 times, but I am planning on going back around a time or two. Once I am done with the stitching around the body I am going to add the beak and legs.
Just to make sure that the onesie will actually be as comfortable as it is cute, I am adding some iron on backing to the inside.
By the time I am done, I am hoping that the birds look like they are kissing.
Who doesn't love Onesies?

Garter Stich Blanket

I am making a baby blanket for my new niece (above picture shows my practice squares). My goal is to have it done by Nov. 1, 2009 (just in time for the baby shower). I need to knit 56 individual squares in various colors. The hardest part for me will probably be seaming all of the pieces together. I have never done anything like this before, but I am up for the challenge.

Everyday I learn more and more about knitting. I am obsessed with yarn, colors, patters....well you get it. Who needs TV anymore?

They say that "Practice makes perfect" by the time I finish this baby blanket I should be a Flippin' Master in Garter Stitch.

"Ga-va"

We baby sat a friends dog...Gava. The kids loved every second of it! Issy said she would take good care of her and she really did. She made sure she had lots of cold, fresh water and food. Now...if only we could get Issy to do this for Sandy, our dog!!!
Anyway. This little girl was so well behaved. She came with absolutely No cleaning supplies or paper towels (Which is a GREAT sign). I was really tempted to keep her, but good things always come to an end and the next morning she went home.

Pfffft....

I am working from home on the weekend and I have a stinkin' headache. Boo. Funny how it always happens when I have to pull out my work laptop. We are in the middle or transfering to a new accounting software at work. Its truly happening at the worst possible time to be doing this, really. I will spare you with the many reasons why, it doesnt really matter for my post. My task today is to enter one subdivision (apx 300 individuals) in to the new accouting system. All Data entry. I hate, hate Data entry. I would rather chew off my arm. Its sunday and I just want to go play outside. Waaa, Waaa, Waaa!!! I know, I know...if I stop procrastianting now I can get this done faster.

Another Summer Goody...

We got a trampoline a couple of weeks ago. Suddenly we started getting a lot more visitors. Who would have know that a trampoline could make us so popular?
Issy absolutely loves the trampoline, especially with the sprinklers on. Being the great Mother that I am I decided to give it a go and show Issy all of my awesome moves from "back in the day".
There were none.
It had been waaaay to long since I had been on a trampoline. Your body just isn't as capable of moving the way you want it to move anymore. Not at all like I remember anyway. Sad. My legs were so sore, my arms were sore...and the rear...ohhh boy....lets just say that I am extremely out of shape!
To top it all of, Brandon (No folks, he is not at all competitive) decided to jump on and show me a thing or too. Ha! My stomach has been sore for days. Good Times!

Kindergarten at Last!

I made it through the morning without crying like a baby. It was a bittersweet morning, but she was so ready for this, and so excited! What is a mom to do? I just hope I am not such a wimp when she goes off to college, although at that point you never know right?

I woke up early to make her heart shaped chocolate chip pancakes, fruit and pack her a lunch. She couldnt wait to put on that huge backpack and wear her new Hannah Montana clothes. We did the "Meet and Greet" Tuesday night which was so nice because she knew exactly where her class was and had already met a couple of classmates "she would like to make friends with".

Her favorite activity was the treasure hunt they did in class-she didn't find the treasure, but she found a parrot!
She has begged me to make her lunch for school because she was unsure about what kind of food they would serve. Today happened to be pizza day(her fav)- She told us that if she had know the did pizza, she would have had lunch there!!! Ha!
lLst but not least, she reported that she got a "blue plate today", which means she gets two gold stars for good behavior. When their chart is full of gold stars, the the kids get to pick out a prize from the treasure chest! Issy said that she does not want yellow or red plates because you don't get a star with those. Why didn't I think of doing something like that?

My goodness she is a riot!

Knitting for Beginers by YouTube!

Yes, I picked up a new hobby this week...Knitting! it all started with a set of used knitting needles and a ball yarn I picked up at a yard sale for $.50 a couple of weeks ago.

I have always wanted to learn how to knit. I've always loved the way knitted blankets and baby clothes looked. They always seemed more special and way more valuable than regular gifts...well you can imagine! I thought I appreciated the work then, but I was so wrong. Its as much work, patience and planning as I thought times 1000. I love it, and I am so excited to get started on a few projects this fall.

In case you were wondering.....

No, I don't know anyone that knits, if you are my friend and you know how to knit...curse you! (Just kidding! I still love you) I have spent hours watching YouTube videos and reading knitting books and "reading" knitting patterns in order to figure out how to knit stitch and purl. Oh my goodness it was extremely frustrating at times, but I am not one to give up easily and eventually....eventually...the never ending stitches really do start coming together. Hallelujah!!!

I started my very first scarf this past weekend in a garter stitch pattern and I am really proud of myself for how good it looks considering the unconventional way I learned how to do it.

My only regret is not learning before Jackson or Issy were born. Oh well...sweaters for Xmas!!!

I will be dreaming of yarn...beautiful organic cotton.

Our Weekend in McCall

...was a blast, not to mention absolutely beautiful! I just love it up there. I love the water, the beautiful trees and all of the cute little shops. Brandon's parents (R&N) took us up for the weekend- we laughed until my stomach hurt, ate lots of good food, no kids...oh man I had a great time! I was exhasted durnig the drive back to town, but after a quick little nap I felt like a new person. Thanks guys for the nice re-charge.

I Heart Etsy

Just another reason why I love Etsy.com so much. Look at this cute tooth fairy kit I found at Humblebea. I cant wait to see Issy's reaction when she gets this. Not only will she love it, but I know she will be thrilled that that stubborn tooth finally falls out. *sigh*

Yippeee!

I have heard several people in the last week say they've just about had it with this awful heat wave. I was starting to feel that way, that is until I looked out my window a few minutes ago. Here it is folks, a little rain for to cool us off and lift our spirits. Go dance in the rain with your kids for just a few minutes! Otherwise open the windows, take in the fresh rain scent and enjoy! For me this is exactly what the Dr. ordered!

I Guess I Have A Green Thumb After All!

I bought this tomato plant on sale last month- the poor thing was almost dead when it got it and now you can see a couple small flowers blooming. I probably wont see any fruits this season, but heck its the first thing I haven't killed and I love it!
