Acting Scout anyone?

I had this blog saved as a draft for almost a week and a half...I have been really busy lately with lots of work meetings, about 3 meetings a week. It stinks, I am looking at my calendar and I looks like there is only a month left until I am done with all of my meetings. Finally the blog gets posted.

Obvioulsy with Kindergarten around the corner we had to make sure that Issy was all caught up with her shots. She was missing one MMR shot so off to the Doctor's office we were...

When the nurse came in to the room she asked issy to sit on the table- "No! I dont want to get a shot!" Issy said -(already the alligator tears were rolling down her little face). We asked her to please come sit at the table a couple more times before I had to put Jackson down (who was also crying because he was only half done with his bottle), grab her had and sit her down on the table trying to calm her down. At this point we were supposed to pull her pants down so that the nurse could give her the shot on her thigh (like always) but because she was hysterical and I didn't want to traumatize her even more. I asked the nurse if she could just give her the shot on her arm instead- she said it wasn't typical because of the little arms but found a spot on the back of her arm with with a little extra skin that worked. of course when the shot was administered Isabel let out this very loud and very long scream.... She is so dramatic. Know of an Acting Scout anyone?

Just look at her face...oh my goodness! She was pouting for the rest of the afternoon :)

I am also attaching a picture of Jackson tasting his first cream-cicle. For the record this was not my idea- I just took the picture. Anyway he had a little taste, and kept grunting until he continued to get more....

Kindergarten here we come....

Last night we registered Issy for Kindergarten. I seriously can't believe this is happening. I know she is ready but I don't think we are. At least I don't feel ready for this. Preschool just seems so different. I am so excited for her, and cant wait for all the new things that will come from this journey but I cant believe this is where we are...the time has really just flown by. I remember bringing her home from the hospital, so small...wondering what kind of personality she would have, what she would look like without that cute gummy smile, what her voice would sound like, would be good parents and so much more so much more. Kinder never crossed my mind back then, it seemed so far away- not its here, knocking on our door. She seems so grown up- such a beautiful, smart and hilarious little girl. Oh goodness!
Last night we were looking through all of the paperwork and the book list they gave her to try to get her excited about school. You can tell she was happy but the wheels were spinning. She woke up this morning and said "mommy, do you really thing I will make new friends?" I just hugged her! I wish she didn't have to worry about things like that, I wish I could protect her from everything out there that could hurt her, I wish I had a few more years.
Yikes!

My little helper

Issy has really turned out to be my special little helper. She truly enjoys being able to do things for her little bro. Today she picked out his clothes, his bib, shoes and socks. She also wanted to help feed him- Why not? Well...I went to the laundry room for one minute and when I came back Jackson little face was covered in cereal. If you look at Issy you can see that its an evil little smile.... hahaha.

When one gets sick....the other follows!

Yep. Issy got really sick the day after Easter...seal cough and the works. She got really spoiled on Monday and on Tuesday the cold continued so we made her stay home..she wasn't happy...she loves school and her friends. Then just as she started to feel better this morning I noticed that Jackson was also a little bit off too. His first cold. Ahhh! I felt so bad for him. He had a runny nose, a little cough and the saddest, most droopy eyes ever! I gave him some Tylenol after lunch and again just before his bath. After his bath he was too sick to finish his bottle....as you all know he is not one to skip meals. Hopefully the meds help him sleep better...if not, at least I will be home to take care of him.
When I was pregnant with Jackson I often wondered what it would be like have two sick kids to take care of at the same time? Middle of the night laundry...screaming baby...no sleep- I know it will happen at some point but I feel really really lucky that this was not the case today.

Well I am off...we got our Netflix delivered which means Issy and I have a movie date!

Catching up!

I know I haven't been able to update my blog as often as I would like to but things have been pretty hectic lately. The juggling act between part time work, part time mom, part time wife and part time Martha is really starting to take its toll on me. I knew working part time (specially part time from home) would be difficult but in reality its beyond what I thought it would be. Like a lot of places these days, our office is severely understaffed, which means in order to keep our office running some what smoothly everyone is having to step up and add more responsibilities to their already full plates. I know that I am lucky to have a job and I truly grateful that my employer is willing to work with me but I am torn between doing the best job I can do and pushing my self to a breaking point and still not ever being enough. I like to work hard and I used to love all of the responsibility I had but lately I feel like what I do is so insignificant in comparison to how much is going on all around us. I want to be a part of something that can improve the lives of people within our community rather than enabling people who have nothing better to do than complaint to me about the cars parked in peoples driveways instead of in their garages. I cannot wait to go back to school, pursue a field in social work or something similar...I may not be able to do much but I would feel one hundred times better about getting stomach acid fighting for things more important than where people are parking their cars. pfft...okay I am off my soap box...I just had to get that off my chest, I try to tell my self that I can only do so much in one day (thanks Nancy) so we will see what happens. For now I am going to continue to stick with my same schedule, I am just going to modify a few things to help me out-like getting more sleep! .okay...starting right now!

Goals:
  • More sleep
  • Time management
  • Take better care of me
  • Take better care of Brandon

4 Months Old & Special Delivery!

Jackson had his four month baby get well check up yesterday. We have been a little worried about his weight lately as he is bigger than all the other babies we have seen around since his birth. I mostly wanted to make sure that he was healthy and I was not turning my son into one of those Montel kids that are 75 lbs at 6 months. Oh my goodness I feel one hundred times better after going to the pediatrician I was told he is healthy - yes he is a little chubby but his weight gain should slow down over the next few months...and more importantly he is right where he should be developmentally. His stats are:

weight: 18 lbs 8 oz. (off the charts...lol)

Height : 25.5 inches (75 %)

Head Circumference: 41.5 cm (35%)

We were given the green light to start on the rice cereal so today I picked up a high chair for the little guy, some rice cereal, and a bowl and spoon set. feeding was a blast...it turned into a family affair....Daddy taking pictures, big sister Issy and I taking turns feeding him.
As you can see he wasn't quite sure what was going on...but he is pointing at his bowl so he was on the right track.
Not sure if he is liking the rice cereal or not....

In the end...he was loving all of the attention and all the yummy food...

We topped him off with 5 oz after his cereal and he was just loving life....
P.S. I have a million more pictures...if you want the messy ones email me- They are super cute too!

Some other exciting News:
Issy got a package today in the mail...she saved up all of her allowance for months and we let her order this butterfly kit. She rarely gets mail so she was absolutely psyched about the special delivery. Check it out! (these pictures are from Photobucket so the formatting is different)

ApRiL fOoLs!

Yep. We did the toothpaste under the door handle prank for Dad.
Issy thought this was awesome! What we were not anticipating was the day to be so beautiful - the pink princess toothpaste was glowing :(
We waited for Bran to walk in through the front door like he always does and nothing.... of all days he came in through the garage....No worries...we got that door too!
Ha! Happy April Fools everyone!
