Fat Lip

I have always know this day would come. *Sigh* It happened so fast, I can only remember jumping up from my chair to sweep my little man up from the floor. Somehow he missed a step and fell onto a dinning room chair at Grandmas. There was so much blood, I didnt know if it was coming from his front tooth, or the inside of his lip...ugh, it was so scary!
Luckily, it wasnt as bad as it looked, and after a nice big bottle of milk, he was back to his HAPPY SELF!

Oh! My sweet little boy! One day, I am going to look back and miss your wobbly 14 month old walk. Until then, I really wish I could put you in a bubble so you never get hurt again.

Cold/Flu Season is Here...

I know I have been MIA this week. Flu season came knocking at our door, and for the last few weeks we have been passing the same flu/cold/sinus infections back and forth to each other. Its been a whole week of being cooped up inside our 1100 sq ft house. That was rough. Two days ago we woke up to a blanket of snow, and today, we were surprised to see that the sun was bright. The thermostat read (a perfect) 56 degrees! We played outside, Issy and Brandon rode bikes. It was exactly what the Doctor ordered.

Now that I feel better, I was able to upload pictures from the last few weeks; when I came across this one, I had to do a double take. Who is this young lady?

Framed Mirrors

My master bathroom is in need of some TLC. MAJOR TLC! We have been at our home for nearly three years and I have yet to even touch it with a paintbrush. I never really knew what direction I wanted to go with…until recently, when I discovered Southern Hospitality blog. Ladies and Gentlemen…I have found my inspiration. Check out the finished picture below: This is the “after” shot of her Framed Mirror Tutorial. It’s fabulous!

Happy Valentines Day!

I just finished writting my Valentine his love letter. I do one every year, but this year I decided to mix things up a bit and inlcude my kids in on the fun. Each of my kids got a "love" letter that included one thing that makes that child extra special, and of course a few of the reasons why I love them so much.

I can't wait for the morning.

We are having a Valentines Day breakfast with my side of the family.

So fun.

Happy Valentine's Day to YOU!

Crayon Window Hearts

A little wax paper, crayons and you have a super easy and fun craft for the little ones. Please check out Fuzzy Sheep Crafts, where I found this great tutorial.

First of all, we could not find a pencil shapener anywhere in this house, which is why our alternative was the potato peeler. It worked great.

We covered the wax with another sheet and gave it a quick go with the Iron (no steam).

I love how great the colors look as they blend together. Ohhh how I heart crayons!

We let the wax melt before cutting our hearts-shapes and PRESTO!

Valentine's Day Crafts

Valentines is right around the corner (aaahh!). Being that I am hosting a valentines’ day breakfast party at my house Sunday morning, I decided that I really need to get on the ball and make my house more festive. Conveniently my Mother-in-Law had a yard of this pretty v-day fabric she was not going to be able to use, so she was kind enough to give it to me. How awesome is that?!
The runner was very simple to put together. I think it took me, at most 20 minutes to iron and sew together.

Ta-da!

While I was at it, I also quickly put together this felt heart. It is made with a wire hanger and small pieces of red felt. I worked the wire hanger into a “heart-shape” and then tied the felt pieces all around the hanger. I have seen a few fellow bloggers make similar projects, and I have to admit it looked like it was going to be easier to make than it was, but those darn wire hangers do not curve or fold just the way I wanted. It will work out alright, but between you and I, this was just a bit more work than it was worth.

Oh happy day!

Dresser: Part 4 (At Last!!!)

Here is my Pottery Barn inspiration. I absolutely love the worn corners. I love the color too, but being that my room gets very little light with my husbands work schedule, I needed something brighter.
The cost for this blue beaut is $899 plus S&H.

Cost for my dresser and my night stand $61.58
Breakdown:
Paint: $4.00 (two pint size cans on clearance)
Primer: $6.00
Knobs $41.58 (15 knobs total) This was by far the most expensive part of the whole project.
Supplies: $10.00 (includes sand paper, sponge roller etc.)

My room is a lot happier now :)

Dresser: Part 3

I am aaaalmost done. I am in the middle of distressing the dresser tonight. The picture shows the most distressed part of the dresser so far. I looove furniture with lightly distressed corners. To me it feels like it's telling a story. I should be done later tonight, but I wont be posting a picture until tomorrow. It turns out that I didnt buy enough knobs. I remember counting the the number of knobs I was going to need before heading to the home improvement store, but aparently my math is off.

sad night...I get to look at my half finished project until tomorrow morning.

Dresser: Work in Progress!

The main part of the dresser is almost finished. The drawers are primed and ready for their first coat...

and.... for the sake of my marriage I am hoping that I will be completly done this project by tomorrow night. Here I am, working on beautifying our bedroom all the while my husband whines about having to walk out to our cold garage to get clean underwear! Ugh, Men!

Okay in all fairness its been three days. Do you guys have any idea how cold a garage can be at 6 am when its not insualated? I dont really either, but it feels like its well below freezing. Its not fun. I know I should have left the clothes inside, but I guessI just didnt want a huge pile of clothes in a corner of our bedroom. blah, blah blah. As you can see its been a topic of great concern for my loved one. Ha!

Anyway, I am really enjoying this project. It’s a little MORE so work -okay, a lot more work than the night stand was, but it’s defiantly coming along nicely.

(in case you are interested in the BEFORE)

Tune back for the reveal...

Happy Ground Hog Day!

Bran and I spend the day running errands with the little man, Jax. Issy spent her day learning, coloring and crafting up this clever little ground hog day hat at school! Issy's class even got to watch the ground hogs peek out of their holes on the news this afternoon. How cool is that?!

I dont know about you guys, but I am VERY ready for those warm spring days.

Happy day to you!
